Place a safety cutter on the exterior of the chipper entry to cut the rope if it gets sucked in.

I don't think this is a solution because there is to many people that go to the back of the chipper to put branches in the chipper, so that could cut anyone. The ground crew also has to notice the rope going in and spring into action, so this would not be a fast enough options. The climber feeling the force is an important part of the reaction time and response time of the remote.

Is this what I am supposed to do??


This can also be added to the vest, belt, or utility harness for the tree-trimmer as well so that they have a quick way to cut a rope as needed. This gives more than one option for cutting a rope and more ways for someone to be released before a fatal accident. Further, this can be a standard carry item for each person on the crew. 

Eliminate a part for the solution of changing the angle of the cutting blade.
